NEWS FLASH - 13TH JANUARY, 2006

As of the 13th January, 2006 the Department of Local Government have increased the NSW microchip lifetime registration fee. These fees are as follows - 

LIFETIME REGISTRATION FEE - NON DESEXED ANIMAL

WAS $100.00 NOW $150.00

LIFETIME REGISTRATION FEE - DESEXED ANIMAL*

WAS $35.00   NOW $40.00

LIFETIME REGISTRATION FEE - PENSIONER OF DESEXED ANIMAL

$15.00 PER DOG - REMAINS THE SAME

LIFETIME REGISTRATION FEE - RECOGNISED BREEDER*

NEWS FLASH - 13TH JANUARY, 2006

As circulated to all councils within NSW from the Department of Local Government dated 12th January, 2006.

The provisions of the Amendment Act (Companion Animal Act) to be commenced on the 13th January, 2006 will - 

*prohibit the selling, acquisition and breeding of dogs on the restricted dog list set out under section 55(1) of the Act (sections 57A, B and C;

*increase maximum penalties for all offences under the Act;

*strengthen powers of authorised officers to control restricted and dangerous dogs;

* require owners of those dogs on the restricted dog list and owners of declared dangerous dogs to comply with prescribed collar requirements, as set out in the Amendment Regulation (sections 51(1)(d1) and 56 (1)(c1))

*require owners of dogs on the restricted dog list and owners of declared dangerous dogs to keep their dogs on a lead and muzzled whenever they are outside of their enclosures (sections 51(1)(e) and 56(1)(d));

*require owners of dogs declared dangerous after 13th January, 2006 to comply with prescribed enclosure requirements, as set out in the Amendment Regulation, within 3 months from the date of the declaration (section 51(1)(c));
