voluntary notes - Doesn't take this shy pumpkin long to warm up to you! Show her some love, take her outside then put her back.... and that's when we have issues! :) She thinks you now belong to her and will make sure you can't keep walking past her without showing her yet more love. And heaven help you if you're outside with another dog and not her.... she will bark at you to tell you off...but a quick shake of the finger and a "none of that" and she shuts up and just sits there smiling at you, with her tail wagging.

She is one of the smallest pei's I've come across. Fine boned not so much skinny (but a couple of kg's wouldn't go astray). She's had a couple of litters and her skin is in a really bad way. I want to say flea derma but it's so consistent throughout her coat I'd recommend a skin scraping to get to the bottom of it conclusively. She's got a good covering of hair though, so don't think it would take much more than TLC to get her back on track.

She's so happy to meet other doggies, and really is a very friendly girl all-round. She had the pleasure of meeting Dom (he was on his way to his lunch break). She approached him slowly, sniffed once, turned away... went back to sniff him all over. Dom finally turned in her direction to sniff her....and she HIGHTAILED it outta there!! Poor chicken was scared hahaaa!!

An adorable little girl I just know she'll be adopted or saved. Right? Right! (AK 26/1)

25/1/12 Cattle Dog m Blue, 1/2 length tail, approx 2 years of age, when this boy first arrived he was very hard to read, he has a natural herding instinct and would sneak up behind his carer and have a nip (sometimes more of a nip), he does not cope very well in a kennel environment. In the last few days his carer has worked him out and he is actually a big sook with her now. This boy needs a breed specific or working breed rescue to help him and assess him out of the kennel environment

28/1/12 Rottweiler cross f Black & tan  - microchipped as Jazelle and recorded as 7 yrs old, very scared & unsure of where she is

voluntary notes -  When i first met her she was curled up on her bed not willing to get up and come and say hi or get her treat so once again i crawled in next to her and chilled out with her for awhile. She is a very sweet girl who is so unsure of her surrounding but very much enjoyed her cuddles and having someone with her keeping her company. She had no problems wth me checking her over lifting her paws checking her teeth and checking her ears which was suprising as i found her ears to be a little infected so i felt she deserved a clean out! With ear cleaner in hand and cloth to clean them out she co-operated very calmly. Once finished with some ears drops massaged in she was happy to jump up off the bed for a bit of a play and once again another dog to gently accept and take a treat. So this pic i thought id share cause she seemed alot happier to give a smile that maybe this place shes in isnt so bad after all (last photo showing) (EC 2/2)

voluntary notes - When I approached his kennel he was comatose... I was loath to disturb him, but I did :) And did he jump up mighty quick and eagerly put his head through the slip lead! Walking down the kennel block he ignored all other larger doggies (but is great with the littlies he's sharing with). Once outside and on the grass area he became the life of the party! Such a comical little clown he is... love him! Physically I couldn't see anything wrong with him - perhaps a dental on his teeth during desexing wouldn't go astray. He was happy to be handled all over, loved being in my lap and LOVES his treats. You won't be bored with him around let me tell you! (AK 5/2)

voluntary notes - Prince impound no: 945, At first he didnt want to look at me or even give me or the treat i was offering the time of day....but then i realised it was cause he was miserable being in the pound situation and didnt know how to cope with it all so i decided to crawl in next to him and give him cuddles. He is a gentle soul and was quite happy for me to pick up a paw check in his ears even check his teeth and after a little attention he finally got up off the floor and sniffed at the treat bag to let me know he was ready for one which he took ever so gently from me :) i did notice while checking him over he has a hematoma in his right ear but didnt seem too bothered by me checking it out. A lovely old man who deserves some love and a cozy place to relax for the rest of his life :) (EC 2/2)

voluntary notes - This little munchkin is a bit shy, so when approaching him for the first time just take it slow. Once he knows you're his friend (treats help tremendously with him!) he is happy to follow you wherever you may lead! A very friendly young man, it took a bit of encouragement to get his gorgeous smile out of him, but once we got there he wouldn't stop. Great with other littlies, loves people once he's comfy, only a young 'un and in great condition.... yet another worthy Renbury Babe save! (AK 5/2)

1/2/12 Staffy Cross m Tan & white, approx 10 months of age, this boy was found with 5293 below, although he gets along well with her, he is showing aggression towards other dogs in a kennel environment and cannot be kenneled next to another, he needs someone to provide him with some guidance and training

voluntary notes - This little baby broke my heart, on many levels, today. The following is a warts and all assessment - so bear with me as it may be all over the shop. Firstly, he appears over the pound environment - a bit like a temperamental brat who is having a sook in the corner. He is also quite shy when you enter his kennel, but not hesitant in approaching you. Take him outside and he melts into your arms for snuggles and kisses, looking at you with such soulful eyes. It's like he's begging you for something - naturally you'd think it's to get him out of the kennel environment, but I think he's really missing his family and wants you to find them for him. All up he is a very people friendly cuddlebumb.

His reaction to other pooches though leaves a lot to be desired - and really I always have a hard time coming to grips with this when they are so young. (Before I go further please note he was impounded with #5293 and there are no issues between the two). He is very dog aggro with medium to large dogs. He will stand his ground, look them right in the eye with his tail slowly swinging side to side. If they don't submit to him the growls start, and then the full on barking and baring of teeth. If he is in his kennel and dogs are being walked past you cannot attract his attention to divert him away from that behaviour. If he is outside the kennel block being walked past others it will take a couple of corrections, but he is happy to follow you. Albeit a bit begrudgingly.

His reaction with the ankle biters outside in the puppy sheds was a bit different, but still had the same end result. He would whine to approach them, retreat then move forward again growling at them from low in his throat. The growl would progressively get louder - I corrected and took him away from there before it got to the barking and teeth bearing stage.

Confidence, dominance and poor socialisation - all at play. He is young so theoretically he is malleable. But, it will take someone experienced in this type of behaviour, and one who must be committed to seeing this through. Is there such a wonderful person out there? (AK 5/2)

voluntary notes - Like his friend that he was impounded with (#5921) this tiny little munchkin is extremely people friendly and a huge huge wiggle bumb! Damn adorable watching that (rather thin) little backend swing from side to side... he's going to do himself damage one day!

Taking him outside he was extremely focused on the goings on outside, and also inside the kennel block - always looking towards his friend. He was also particularly focused if a car was coming up the driveway - searching for his owner?

On the main he is OK with others, but can get a bit defensive. His carer advises that this is him being led by example - i.e. he follows the actions of his friend #5921. It's for this reason that they have both been separated. At the moment he is next to the Aussie Bulldog and I did not observe any issues between the two. Not sure what anyone is expecting size wise, but this munchkin is really tiny - at six months though you would expect a growth spurt though. (AK 5/2)

2/2/12 American Bulldog m Tan & white, this boy arrived very scared and very wary of strangers but in 48 hours he has let his guard down and has become a big sook, big strong boy who will need an experienced owner and should be tested with other dogs within the new home 

voluntary notes - Feel free to call me fickle, but I am in love with this big boof!!! He's obviously settled in and is not scared or wary anymore - today was the first day I met him and it was like we were long lost friends :) He is a VERY strong boy on lead and was extremely focused on being outside. For all that though he is quite obedient and will sit in a heartbeat. He is non reactive to his kennel mates medium to large - unable to test with ankle biters today. When you go to meet him chances are you will hear him first - the barking coming from Shed A? That will be him. But take him outside and you hear not one peep from him! He is obviously reacting to the dynamics of the kennel block. He is in extremely good condition - he must be missed by someone! He does have one secret though.... he pees like a girl. (AK 5/2)

Spritely boy with lots of love to give, his carer while in boarding cannot speak more highly of him

voluntary notes - Porkey himself, he is a delightful and friendly young man. And I mean young - because until I read his age on the RF website I would never have put him at 10.5 years old! He is quite a chubby little man (hence his name, more than likely) but not grossly overweight. He follows Dad patiently and quietly, adoring the attention being paid to him. Porkey also hasn't met a stranger - he is friendly with all.

Observing the dynamics today you can tell Dad loves Porkey (the feeling is mutual) and only wants the best for his "personal rescue". He was very insistent that he just doesn't want Porkey going to anyone - he wants Porkey to be loved for who he is, and not neglected ever again.

I wish there were more people in the world like him. Restore my faith - can someone (new family or rescue) step up for Porkey? Please. (AK 5/2)

 Porkey is a private rehoming for one of our boarding clients. He is currently in our boarding kennels and has been for quite some months now. 

Porkey's dad was working for a man who was building a house, and noticed that his dog was being neglected. Left on a 1m chain all day, no interaction or exercise at all. This kind man could not stand to see this dog in this situation and convinced the owner to give Porkey to him. Porkeys dad is not in a position to have him where he lives and has been boarding him at RF at his expense for a long while now. But he hasn't forgotten about him - he visits him all the time, brings him food, takes him for walks, gives him baths etc... basically treats him as his own dog. It's unfortunate he cannot have him with him, because I will tell you one thing... he really loves this dog and just wants what is best for him.

He knows he cannot leave him in boarding kennels indefinitely. Porkey deserves to live his twilight years snuggled up in his own warm bed, with his own loving family. Ideally he is looking for someone to adopt Porkey direct from RF, but is happy to talk to any rescue who can assure him that Porkey will be well loved and looked after until he finds his furever home. He is also willing to have Porkey desexed at his cost, regardless of rescue or adoption. His primary concern is that Porkey goes into the right family, not money. I admit I did convince him to not give Porkey away for free (we all know the risks associated with that), that perhaps a donation to charity from the new owner, or a donation to the rescue group who saves him, would be more appropriate.
