The animals listed below are some of the success stories that have happened from Renbury Farm whether they have been reclaimed by their owners or sold into new homes.

Renbury Farm always loves to hear how the final chapter of a story ends, so if you have a story that you would like to share, please email it to info@renbury.com.au or by posting to PO Box 21, Austral, NSW, 2171.

Just a thank you for our wee girl, purchased from you just after Christmas this year ! I've attached your advertising photo as well as one from our home so you may recognise her, though she wasn't with you for long !

She has become THE most loved and spoilt dog you can imagine ! Won't eat dog food of any kind so she's a gourmet girl ! Loves the lounge and a lap, her faux fur rug and the fire ! Slept one night outside and would never wear it again - so every night she's in someone's bed !

'Bella' is the most affection and loving dog I have every owned and I am so glad that I purchased a mature dog from a rescue shelter instead of giving in to the puppies in the pet store. We have over 100 acres of open space for her to play and chase rabbits so her life is full, as is ours !

With much gratitude for everything you do there and for the wonderful addition to our family !

Hello Renbury Staff,

A quick note to let you know how the pup we purchased from you a year ago today is doing. Casper was around 5 months when we bought him from you and has grown to be a beautiful, loving, intelligent and somewhat spoilt young man. He is a White Shepherd and everyone who sees him wants to know what breed this beautiful dog is. When he first came to be with us, it was painfully clear how unsocialised he was. He used to try and attack every dog he saw, including his own image in the car door. We brought in a personal trainer (as the group trainers didn't want to know him), and together have managed to improve his attitude towards other dogs. Although he now no longer wants to attack them, he still rushes up to other dogs to say hello. The problem comes in when the other dog runs away and he thinks it's a game of chase. Needless to say we've had endless frustration but everyone who knows him at the park, comments at the improvement in his behaviour. We have also purchased another dog and he now has an older sister to play with and who cleans his eyes and ears for him. He loves to run, play, chase the swallows in the park, swim, lie down in dirty creek water and eat his bones and drumsticks which he crushes like biscuits.

So, thought you might like to know about a success story. Thank you for providing him with a temporary home and care in time for us to see him there.

Here are a couple of photos (I hope they don't take too long to download!)

Kind Regards

Ann and Mark James

Dear Renbury
in 2002 march we purchused our lovely staffy from you and since then our lives have never been the same; everyone in springwood knows who max is and when we walk past a watchmakers shop he stops and gives max liver treats.

i have enclosed a photo of max.  so many people want to know where we bought him from so i point them in your direction!, i've even had few staffy breeders want to use him as a stud dog, but i inform them that he is desexed and wouldn't have it any other way. plus some people have offered to buy him, they get a quick stiff reply.  When i go to do volunteer work sometimes max comes with me and my boss feeds him raisin toast.

all in all just hope you have loads of people buying dogs and cats, and i always let people know where to go

Thanks so much

Dear Staff at Renbury,

I thought that I would write to you to THANK YOU ALL very much for Malcolm. He is the most loving, playful, and at the same time placid dog that we have ever met and therefore makes for a very important member to our family. I just wanted to let you know that he has settled in very well and my three children absolutely love him and he loves us too. My husband was sitting on the chair out the back and Malcolm jumped onto his lap for a cuddle it was so beautiful. Thankyou once again we are all (including Malcolm) very happy.

Thankfully

Liza-Marie Bose.

Hello all the staff at Renbury Farm,

At Christmas 2002, I made up my mind that I wanted to adopt a dog.  I started looking around the animal shelters and somehow I ended up at Renbury Farm.  I walked in the large gate where all the dogs where kept and there he was looking straight at me with those beautiful big brown eyes that cried out for me to adopt him.  He never once took his eyes off me whilst I walked up and down the cages looking at the other dogs, he sat there so quietly, not making a sound.  Once I had set eyes on my boy I knew that he was the one I wanted - I fell in love with him immediately.  So I asked the lady if she could put him on a lead and take him outside which she did and he was so well behaved.  Needless to say I took him home a week later and he has been an important part of my life and home since then, he is one very very spoilt boy and I am so grateful that I decided to go to Renbury Farm that day because my life wouldn't be the same with my Max.

Just over 4 years ago now, I purchased Maxi - an Australian Cattle Dog bitch from your shelter. The entire family love Maxi dearly, we simply cannot believe such a warm, loving animal could ever be discarded by someone. (Maxi was found wandering the streets by your team - no collar, no ID) Maxi is also greatly loved by our neighbours who invite her over from time to time to play with their dogs as well. She is also well known to our local vet who tell me she is the only Cattle Dog on thier books who has not only a gold star, but also a smiley stamp next to her name because she is such a great patient!
She's not just a pet, more like the shortest member of the family. I could go on all day about her funny antics and gentle nature but really all that needs to be said is that we never for one second regretted buying a gangly 14 month old pup of goodness knows what breeding from your shelter. If in the future we desire to find another new family member, we will most definitely bypass all the fancy breeders and  blue blood pooches and head straight to Renbury Farm. Our only wish is we could take them all home!
Keep up the great work.

Hi Everyone at Renbury,

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone at Renbury. I think your website is great and a great access for people who have lost their dogs or are seeking to adopt one.

Last September my boyfriend and I adopted a beautiful little Jack Russell X pup which we spotted on your website.

When I visited him the first time at the shelter, he was so scared and worries he wouldn’t even come to me, but we fell in love with him and decided he was to be the newest member of our family.    We decided to give him a name that would make him feel big, Maximus!  Max's first birthday is coming up at the end of this week, and living up to his name and the best thing to happen to our little family.  We love him dearly, he is such a character and very handsome, with a big smile on his face.  We always get stopped whenever we are walking by people commenting on how handsome and happy he is.

We’re very lucky to have found him and thankful for all the joy he has brought in our lives.

Thanks once again. Jastine, Pete and Maximus.

Dear Renbury
Well we have just clocked up 3 months with 'Eddie' and already we cannot imagine life without her! Quite simply she is a gorgeous dog - in temperament and looks!

Eddie has settled in well and loves to play with her string of sausages and go on long walks.

She is living proof that mutts are the best breed of dog!

Keep up the great work.

Thanks
Sarah-Jane & Paul

!!!!DO YOU REMEMBER KELLY!!!!!

Kelly was our Greyhound that was found wandering the streets in the Fairfield and was collected and impounded by the Fairfield Animal Control Officer.

Kelly's owners were traced via her ear tattoo's and they did not want her back so she was surrendered.

Kelly was lucky enough to go into a foster home until her dream home was found and by the sounds of it she has achieved this....

Kelly is now living the life of luxury on 35 acres in Berri. She is a inside dog and sleeps by the bed with a Maltese Cross and is very much loved.....

All at Renbury Farm would like to thank all the people involved for giving this girl a second chance....

Dear Renbury Farm,

In Sept 2002, I was encouraged to foster a death row Bullmastiff cross. I took one look at him and named him Benson because he had a dignity even though he was in shocking condition.

He was starving, largely untrained, food possessive and miserably sick with Kennel cough. He didn't know how to play with other dogs, how to swim, what to make of long grass and had constant diarrhoea. He was terrified most of the time and 50kg of dog,  paralysed with fear,  can be quite a handful.

I can't pretend it wasn't damn hard work for the first 3-4 months, but it was worth every minute!!!  He is such a wonderful dog. He is now well socialised, loves swimming, is obsessive about 'fetch' and is fit and healthy. He is a gentle giant and has captured the hearts of many.

I could have re-homed him many times over but the foster idea went out the window within weeks. Pictures speak a thousand words - I enclose one of him at Renbury and one a few months ago.

Benson carries some physical and emotional scars from his past but he got the second chance I wish I could give them all. I have since become an ongoing foster carer and find it very rewarding.

I hope this story inspires those whom are not sure about saving a pound dog..... and re-assures those struggling with re-training one. It is a wonderful thing to do and the sense of purpose that comes from it is hard to express.

Thank you Renbury, for bringing Benson to me.

Yours sincerely, David Doig

I purchased Tyson from Renbury farm just over a year ago, he is a shitzu/x, Joslyn was the person that was looking after him, he was in a terrible state, matted hair like tennis balls, you couldn't find where his legs were it was so bad, it was very hot weather and the staff at Renbury let me walk him each day and try to cut some of  his hair while I waited impatiently, for his owners to surrender him, It was an agonising 14days wait as he was microchipped. How could anyone not want him, he loved to be cuddled and I longed to give him a good home, he was only nine months old.

Finally the morning came when I could take him, I was there before opening, I had to take him straight to a beauty parlour before I could take him home he was in such a bad state.

I wanted to let you know that Tyson, is a beautiful boy who has brought so much to my life, he is spoilt wrotten and everyone says he has gone to doggy heaven, he loves the car now(didn't know what it was at first), and gives me those sad puppy dog eyes if I try to leave him at home. Tyson is now 2yrs old and a blessing to me, he greets me with love each morning when I wake and follows me around the house 24/7. I am so glad I chose him and gave him a second chance at life, he was too young to be left and not loved. Now he is my world and I love him dearly. Just wanted you all and Joslyn to know that he is loved and cared for every day, he gives me a reason to get up in the morning with his beautiful presence.

Thank you for the opportunity to make Tyson mine.

UPDATE OCTOBER, 2004

To all the Staff at Renbury,

Earlier this year I wrote to you to let you know how Tyson was getting on and the happiness he brought to my life. I have now enclosed a photo of him.

From purchasing Tyson from Renbury, Tys and I have ventured on to help other dogs, by becoming foster parents. Tys is a wonderful teacher for them, he is so gentle and kind, and doesn't mind that the pups love to chew his ears or take his food out of his mouth. What a wonderful dog he is and how everyone who meets him adores him. I am so proud of him and together we help other dogs in need.

Regards Diane Pooley

Dear Renbury,

In September last year we picked up our beautiful dog from you.  Rajah was very very shy, didn’t have much social skills and was very unsure of males around him.  But with a lot of love, patience and the help of a personal trainer to help us with our problems we haven’t looked back.  Rajah gets loads of cuddles and hugs; he gets to walk every single day and loves drives in the car with us. A lot of family and friends have commented on his gentle and placid nature especially around children.  We just want to let all at Renbury know that Rajah is so important to us and we love him so much, he is now in a warm and loving house hold getting spoilt rotten. Thanks again Renbury for giving us the best dog in the world and since then we have been recommending the Farm to our other friends.  Hope you enjoy the photos.

We wish you all the best for the future.

Thanking you so much

hi Renbury

We got our Staffy cross from you last year in late September - he was called Nemo during his stay at Renbury, we've re-named him Nelson and he's a spoilt and happy dog!  He's been to north Qld and on many other smaller trips with us, loves to swim and chase balls and sticks...though he does seem to think that the game is for him to get and keep the thrown object rather than let anyone get hold of it again...

He's settled in very well.  No problems other than getting him over the kennel cough he had when we first got him, and a bit of a run-in with a much larger dog on one of his first park runs, which at least made him a lot more sensible.  If we ever get a house with a bigger yard we'll be back to get another dog, can't wait!

Oh, and here's a photo of him looking a bit annoyed at being made to look so foolish...

Julie and James (July, 2004)

Hello to all who helped us.

Scruffy is obviously here and has re-established himself.

That is to say he guards the sofa chair in the lounge room and kicks me out of bed at night when he gets into it........and I jest about neither of those.

He came back in as good a condition as he left and that is a credit to the efforts of all yourselves.

Having him back has restored the dynamic of the household and he jumps around with my grandson on the trampoline, watches TV, plays with our 3 cats and the pekinese and does what he does best, be Scruffy.

The only thing left for us to do is buy him his favourite treat, pistachio nuts.

I dont know how to put this in the sections you have but if you wish to include it feel free. I cannot praise the internet site, the pound area, the care and most of all the people who make it all possible and make sure it works...YOURSELVES.

Thanks Glenn

November 2004

Dear Renbury Farm

We were lucky to welcome Otto (formerly Zorro) into our family in November 2002. He was only 10 months old, starved and filthy, unable to even walk up the stairs in our home. It took many months to get him back to a good weight and condition. Now after 2 years we cannot imagine life without him. He is incredibly affectionate and loving, full of playful puppy energy and loves playing with Emma, our older rescue dog. And did I mention he is just so handsome!!

We wish we could take more dogs who have been neglected by thoughtless people but at least Otto was able to put his past life behind him and blossom into the most gorgeous German Shepherd.

It is a difficult job that you do. Thank you for letting us have Otto.

Geri, Jeff, Emma and Otto

To all staff at Renbury Park,

In November 2003 I adopted a 4 year old German Shepherd called MAX from your shelter.
From the day I met Max, he was scared (especially of Men) and had obviously
been neglected, Unloved and unwanted. Since bringing him home he has
developed into a trusting, beautiful natured, extremely loyal, placid dog
who is so full of love and eager to please. I feel incredibly lucky to have
found such an amazing dog. He was known at the shelter as "a big teddy
bear!".
I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity of adopting Max and
having him brighten my life as i have brightened up his.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks again,

Angela Thompson

MAY, 2005

Almost one year ago we got our beautiful Samoyed, Peppa, from Renbury.  She was overweight, dirty, smelly and her coat was in horrible condition when she was found as a stray along the highway.  With no identification her age and history were unknown.  But we brought her home on 25 May 2004 to be a friend to our 6 year old Samoyed boy, Prince.  The two have been inseparable ever since.  Renbury had named her Fluffy on arrival, but we renamed her Peppa (she has since earned the nickname "Squeak" because she cries when she's excited).  After working on her poor socialisation skills, we're pleased to say she's now a pleasure to take out and she even went with Prince to Pet Expo in 2004 to represent the Samoyed breed on the breed stand.  Thank you Renbury for giving us a sweet and beautiful family member.

Hello to everyone, just letting you know how Tinkerbell is getting on (still has the name you gave her at Renbury). She has been with us for 4 months now.  She really enjoys going for walks with her little buddy, the Jack Russell who is not one bit intimidated by her.  He is an ex-pound dog too.  As you can see from the photos she has expanded in width, she is not the skinny sorry sight you picked up from the streets of Narellan.  Indeed when she first came home with us we would only bring her for walks late at night due to her looking like we didn't feed her properly.  With her ravenous appetite the weight didn't take very long to creep up.  She certainly gets lots of attention from people when we go down to the local park. She loves all kinds of food even vegetables.  She is really happy here and has a very loyal and loving temperament. She still slobbers everywhere. You described her as " Big, sooky, cuddly young girl" and we couldn't agree more.

Thank you for looking after her so well at Renbury.  We are so glad to have her here with us.

The Price family.

JUNE 2005

I promised my little girl Sasha (German Shepherd) that if she was a good girl, I'd get her a dog for Christmas. After much searching (and right in time for Chrismas) I found Kostya at Renbury.

He's a gorgeous boy who loves giving cuddles and has Sasha well trained to give him lots of kisses. The two are now inseparable and both love going to the off lead park to play with all their friends and going to the river for a swim.

AUGUST, 2005

We adopted Bear from Renbury in April 2004 after losing our beautiful dog, Max after 13 and a-half-years. I saw Bear's photo on the PAWS website and immediately drove out to Renbury Farm to meet him. I was in a bit of a sorry state while I was there as there were too many wonderful, loving and loyal dogs all pleading for someone to take notice of them, take them home and love them.

I recall asking the staff if they knew if Bear was cat friendly and was told I might be expecting a bit too much.

It took Bear a while to settle in, he chewed up my back blinds, ripped up the carpet at my front door and wee'd and poo'd through the house during the night but he was trying to become friends with my 10 year-old-cat and we were so proud of him. He walked well on a lead and obeyed commands incredibly well. Now, he has the run of the house and loves nothing more than hanging out with his best mate, Pussle. They even snuggle up together on the lounge and on the bed. Bear's favourite toy is his squeaky tyre and his loves his daily runs down the park, chasing the tyre or the ball. We get lots of comments from people who say Bear is a very cool dog. We think so too and are so happy we have him.

SEPTEMBER 2005

To all the staff at Renbury Farm,

Well it's been almost a year since I brought little puppy "987" home, and I Can't imagine life without her. She's now known as Willow, and for 11 months she's been more than my pet, she's been my best friend. I was going through a tough time when I bought her and she's really helped me through. She's such an affectionate little dog, with lots of energy. And smart! She constantly surprises me by the things she works out how to do. She definitely keeps me on my toes, making sure she's not getting into mischief. We have had some problems with separation anxiety, and her adjusting to being at home while I'm at work, but I think we're getting there slowly. One thing's for sure, I definitely get an energetic welcome whenever I come home.

Well that's it, we just wanted to send you our thanks for bringing us together. I'm including three pictures: one of her when she was still at Renbury Farm, and one taken only the other day. She's certainly grown up!

Take care, Felicia and Willow

I wanted to wish you guys a very Happy and Safe New Year and give you an update on Joey a male Brindle Staffy which i got from you back in November 2005 - Joey is very happy and loves our daily walks, he really loves playing with Teneal our 9 year old daughter and cant wait to see her and gets really excited when she comes home - he also enjoys spending his days lazing in the sun and teasing my Ferret which is rather funny, he loves playing ball and has fitted into our family perfectly. I really wanted to express my appreciation to you guys for saving his life, he has been the best experience i have ever had in getting a pet and i will be forever greatfull. i have attached a couple of pictures for you. Again thank you for bringing him into our lives.

Dear Renbury

Here are two happy tails:

Six months ago I "fostered" Milo (now Freddy) via Paws 'n' Hooves. My previous foster dog - a poor, skinny, young Renbury mastiff X - had been adopted quickly thanks to the Petrescue website by a wonderful couple near Launceston. He travelled there with us aboard  the Spirit of Tasmania, and we have just returned from visiting. Rufus is indeed living the good life. Fred, by contrast with the big, boofy mutt, was a no-brainer - cute as a button, smart as a whip and just a great all-rounder. I was astonished when, weeks later, there had been only one inquiry (and they chose a puppy from a pound closer to home).

A few more weeks past, then a great-sounding home interstate came up. I spent the day in tears but sent off more info and photos and pondered the logistics of dog here, home there. The outcome:  a response that Fred "obviously had found a good home already" and this woman "would be mad to remove him from same". Fred and I agreed and heaved sighs of relief. Our failed foster Fred is here for good - and we are all thrilled. (The woman has since sent photos of her new pound dog, so it's a happy story all round.) So that's Fred and Rufus. And I feel another foster coming on. Oh dear!

Great dogs, pound dogs - just the best.

Debbie

JANUARY, 2006

Hi to all at Renbury,

Just thought we would take this opportunity to let you know about our "Skoota".

"Skoota", along with his siblings found their way on to death row at Renbury in February 2004.

As foster carers for a rescue group, we put our hands up to take Skoota and his sister Skeeta and look after them until new homes could be found.

Both of these kids went through all sorts of highs and lows after being released and spent many days at the vets. Things were that serious that at one stage, we thought both of them may have made their way to "Rainbow Bridge".

Even with all of their health problems they always had their tails wagging and loved nothing more than sitting with us, getting lots of cuddles and giving us back lots of love in return.

After getting over their illnesses and seeing them so happy (and sometimes a little cheeky) it was really difficult to even begin thinking about letting these guys go to new homes !

With lots of persuasion, we finally decided that a girl living on Sydney's northern beaches was not only very suitable but we had no doubt that she would give "Skeeta" (now "Maverick") all of the love and attention that she really deserved !

"Skoota" on the other hand , became our "foster failure" and became a permanent resident with us.

Since then, he has helped us by caring for and teaching about 80 other fosters that we have had at our place and he also became a blood donor, helping to save a little Pomeranian that  became anaemic.

To top it all off, you can imagine how happy and excited we felt when we heard that "Skoota" had been selected as one of six finalists in the Pet's Paradise 2006 "National Pet of the Year" competition.

He wasn't selected as the winner of the competion but just becoming a finalist was a real thrill in itself.

Both of the guys along with all of the other success stories on these pages really illustrate how great "Renbury" poundies can become !

It is truly a real credit to all of the Renbury staff who do such a wonderful job under such difficult circumstances. It doesn't matter what dog it is, or what sort of past they have had, the staff always do everything they can within their power, to make their short time at Renbury as good as it can possibly be.

Best Regards - Keep up the great work !

Dear Renbury Farm

I would like to thank you for my little Heidi, I picked her up from Renbury's vets after she was desexed a real sad little dog but now she is a lovely confident friendly girl who gets on with everyone, again thank you so much for this little treasure

Anne - DECEMBER 2005

"Pippin", formerly known as dog 0994, has been accepted into our home with welcome arms. The children lover her and she is settling in well. She pulled through her de-sexing operation well and is fine.

Thankyou to the staff there for doing a hard but great job looking after all the displaced animals at the shelter.

All the best for Christmas to you all.

Kindest regards

The Evans Family

We adopted Bella our female golden Labrador early this year from Renbury Farm. And she has been an absolute joy to have in our family.

She took about a week to come out of her shell and then was such a bubbly happy puppy.

She LOVES the water! Whether it be swimming pools, dams, rivers or the beach. If there's water she'll find it and swim/roll in it.

As a true Lab she loves her food! But we've managed to keep her weight down.

She knows all sorts of tricks and especially likes her trips in the car. All I need to say is "In the Car Bella" and she gets very excited.

We take her to lots of dog parks and she makes friends straight away. She loves running and playing with all the other dogs.

She's more than I could have asked for and I'd like to thank Renbury for bringing her into our lives.

She's absolutely gorgeous!

This is Ollie, maybe border collie? Shepherd? Kelpie? combo. He is now  three years and 9 months old as of October 2005. We got him from Renbury Farm when he was 3 months old. He was a scrawny, dull coated boy, all legs and tail - he had 2 days left to live. Now he is a lovable, boisterous, handsome, healthy boy, bursting with life and good will and who loves to please. He attended 'dog school' and as he is so smart and eager to please, he rose rapidly through the classes - even receiving a trophy at the end of the year......He is a much loved member of our household along with little Sophie, a chihuahua cross, who was also a pound dog. He certainly is a success story.....If you are looking for a dog - adopt one and save a life.

Hi Renbury Staff,

Around two years ago we rescued an older kitten from Renbury, We originally went there to buy a 6 week old baby but Josie (as she is now named) had other ideas. She was so affectionate and lovely that we couldnt leave without her.

Josie is a gorgeous girl with no bad habits (thankfully). She has never scratched anyone (not even the kids) she is very affectionate and as you can see is the queen of the house.

She has everyone wrapped around her paw even hubby.

Thank you averyone at renbury and keep up the good work

Dear Renbury Farm

In August last year we picked up our white kitten.  She was very beautiful but when we got her home, we discovered she was deaf.  Although I was aware that white, blue-eyed cats are carry that gene, we hadn't been made aware before buying her that she was deaf.

I explained to my 5-y-o son that maybe it wasn't a good idea for us to keep her as we live on a busy road.  He explained that "Boadie" could understand him, so that we should keep her.  We made the decision to keep her as an indoor cat and want to say that she is the most beautiful, loving girl in the world.  She has "escaped" once or twice, but because she sits in the sunny window each day all the local people know her and rush her home or phone us if she is spotted (she does have a name tag and phone number for those odd occasions when she gets through our stringent security measures(!) and she has been desexed and registered with the Council).

Anyway, I am very glad a friend recommended your site to us, even though we live a long way from you because it was worth the trip to get this gorgeous girl.

Kind regards

Hi Everyone at Renbury Park,

Just a BIG THANK YOU for our Labrador BEN, who we adopted in May 2006.

He is an amazingly gorgeous, smart and affectionate dog who just loves life.

My partner Ian and myself cannot imagine going a day without seeing his wonderful smile (photo attached).

Thanks again,

Hi All,

I wanted to share some pics of Chief who we adopted on the 22nd June 2007.  The pics are of Chief in his new home and also his pound picture so you can compare.

He is an amazing dog and err loves his food and his family.  He has settled in straight away and he and our German Shepherd, Sasha are inseparable and play together all day long.  Chief loves his walks though his favourite pastimes besides playing is eating and sleeping.  We are currently working on putting a waist back on him via diet and exercise.

He's never barked or chewed anything.  The kids just love him to bits because he is so gentle and the neighbourhood kids ask to play with him all the time as well.

He sleeps inside on the couch (as you can see in the photo's) and my nights are pretty much spent snuggled up between the two dogs with the cats on my lap watching TV together when the kids have gone to bed.  There is no such thing as a cold night here lol.

Originally Chief was found as a stray but then his owner surrendered him.  I can't believe his owner didn't want him anymore but I am thankful in a way because it means we get to have him in our family.  As I write this letter, I have both dogs sleeping at my feet lol.

All the best and keep up the good work, Renbury staff are amazing people!

Helen

To all the staff at Renbury,

I just thought I'd drop you a note to let you know how our husky, Zero (formerly known as #5334) is getting on six months after we adopted him from your shelter. He came to us really over-weight, untrained and shedding terribly but looking at him now you'd never know it was the same dog. He's lost 8kgs and now knows sit, stay, heel, come, shake, drop it, down, leave it and lie down, though his hearing can be a little selective (except when there's food around!). As for the shedding, it still happens... a lot! Turns out that huskies shed twice a year, the problem is that they shed for 6 months at a time so it's a year-round thing, but we're learning to brush and bath him often enough so it's not a problem.

He's also gotten over his fear of fast hand movements and people touching his collar and paws and will now come to you for a cuddle and pat instead of taking off and hiding like he used to do. He's even learning how to be gentle with kids since so many of them want to come up and play with him when we go on our walks and how to be social with other dogs - he's made friends with two other Renbury dogs too, Bella (who's on your success stories page) and Rowdy, who Zero just loves.

The best part of all though is the welcome we get when we walk through the gate at night. Zero knows the sound of our cars and shoves his paws and as much of his nose as he can under the gate to see what we're doing, makes a wolf-howl kind of noise to say hello to us before running to get one of his toys, which of course means it's play time (playing was another thing he didn't know how to do when he came to us).

He's everything we could have asked for and more and we love him to absolute death. Thank you all so much for helping to bring him into our lives. I've attached some photos of him which I hope you like looking at. The first is the photo we fell in love with (Zero at Renbury), and a couple of him taken in the last few weeks.

Thanks again,

Shell

HI friends at Renbury

Thought I’d send you a picture of two very happy little dogs that we rescued from Renbury in June 2005, as it is now just gone 2 years since they became part of our family. Belle, the shitzu cross, was a complete ball of matts and urine stains when we found her and she was due to be put down the very day we came to Renbury. She was only 10 months old. She poked her nose through the wire and squealed at us when we walked away … that did it for us. Her sweet little pal, Gem, was one of two pups, sisters, about 5 months old and terrified. We could only take one of them but the other went to a rescue society and has hopefully also found a happy family. Both girls bring us great joy and are both very different temperaments. Belle is a complete comedian and so attention needy. Gem is quieter and gentler but has the terrier feistiness when needed in rough play with Belle.

Thank you for all the great work you do at Renbury. It is so sad to see so many beautiful animals in such tragic circumstances but I am glad we were able to give a good home to at least two little darlings.

All the best ….

Maryanne

Hello Renbury Staff,

We would like to let you know how our little princess (Frostie) is doing.  We picked Frostie up from Renbury on a cold August afternoon.  Our little puppy was a very sad & underweight.  When she come to us she weighted 2.5 kilos now she weighs healthy 4 kilos.  Frostie has settled well in her new home.  Snowball our other little Maltese terrier & Frostie are the best of friends.  It wasn’t always like that always.  At first they were both very jealous of each other but now you can’t keep them apart.  Snowball being male & older of two is very protective of our little girl.  We do everything together from going on our daily walks, going to the beach, picnics & even camping.  We love her dearly & couldn’t imagine life without her.  Thank you so much for our little princess.

Dear Renbury Farm,

Its been almost a year since we picked up our girl "Lucky" formly (IMP NO. 840) When we got to take her out for a little wonder at Renbury Farm we fell in love with her. She was so playful and affectionate. The 5 day wait before we could pick her up was so hard. Finally the Monday afternoon came when we could go to the vet to pick her up after her de-sexing operation, a little groggy but still so affectionate. Bringing her home to her new home was the most exciting part. Took her a few days to settle in and get use to her new home but before we knew it she was just part of the family. Only 6 months old when we got her we knew she would have a little growing to do, with her big paws we knew she would get a little bigger. Well, she doubled in size, confusing us even more as to what bread she is. She has the staffy smile but the height of a boxer and runs like a greyhound.. what ever she is she is the best dog we could ever imagine. We can never resist the smile she gives when she is sitting next to the HUGE hole she has dug, or the plant she has eaten, or the pot plant she broke... its all part of being a dog. She got her name because she was lucky to be chosen but really my fiance and i are the lucky ones. Thanks Renbury Farm for our "Lucky"

Regards,

was reading your website and just wanted to let you all know of a double success story. It took me a year to bring myself to get another dog once I lost my boxer, he was a stray that I had with me for 5 wonderful years. My husband and I looked on the internet and saw a picture of Bobby a mastif cross pup approx 4 months at Renbury. We wanted a big dog to run around on our 6 acres. We went to meet Bobby at Renbury and he was a very happy and playful big pup. We took him for a little walk and fell in love with him. I was speaking to the girl at Renbury and I was so upset at how many pups there were. I asked her if they would all find homes and she said that some do but that a few don’t even make it through the time that they are there, as they are in a lot of shock and very scared. She pointed at this little lab cross in a cage on the grass. I saw this ball of fluff in the back right hand corner of her cage. She said she was worried about her. Of course I went over to have a look and tried to cox her out of the cage. She was interested but not trusting. She came half way and then went back in. Mean while my husband was walking with Bobby near by and came over. As soon as Bobby came near her cage she immediatley came forward to him and started to wag her tail slightly. They became instant friends and they are the best of friends to this day. They will even swap bones and you just don’t get a look in when they are playing together. They can go for hours. I have attached a picture of them, they are the most beautiful dogs and completely opposites but they get on so well. We named our little girl Bindii. So now Bobby and Bindii have a life of luxury and play on 6 acres. And they will for their entire life. Thankyou for all your efforts. It does not go unappreciated even though you guys have it tough a lot of the time. It seems that most of the dogs that are adopted get a brilliant life. Thanks again, they have brought soo many smiles into our life.
